EumetCast Dissemination Service
EUMETCast is a multi-service data dissemination system based on standard Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) technology. It uses commercial geostationary telecommunications satellites to multicast data and products to a wide user community. EUMETCast also distributes a range of third-party products ([[1](http://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/Data/DataDelivery/EUMETCast/index.html) EUMETSAT Website]).
Files are transferred from EUMETSAT to the uplink facility, encoded, and transmitted via a geostationary communications satellite. The local reception station receives and decodes the signal, then recreates the transmitted data according to the configured directory and file-name structure.
A single reception station can receive multiple EUMETCast services. Access to restricted data is protected in accordance with the EUMETSAT Data Policy using the EUMETCast decryption system ([[2](http://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/Data/DataDelivery/EUMETCast/SystemDescription/index.html) System Description]).
