Welcome to the hochstaffl.eu Wiki.

This wiki documents the services and systems operated within the hochstaffl.eu and hochstaffl.local network.

Some services are publicly accessible while internal services require an authorized user account, access from the local network or a remote connection through OpenVPN.

File and Cloud Storage

  • Online Cloud – current Nextcloud and legacy Pydio cloud services
  • FTP Server – anonymous FTP, personal user storage and archive storage

Email

Note: The local Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 was decommissioned in 2022. Exchange services for the domain are now hosted externally by Microsoft.

Earth Observation

EarthOnline

  • EarthOnline – near real-time and archived satellite imagery

EUMETCast

The EUMETCast system receives and processes meteorological satellite data used by EarthOnline and other applications.

Network Access

The internal Windows environment uses the hochstaffl.local domain. Domain accounts are used for services that are integrated with Microsoft Active Directory.

Not all services use Active Directory authentication. Services such as OpenVPN use their own authentication or access configuration.

See Services for an overview of the individual services and their access methods.

Certificates

Public services in the hochstaffl.eu domain use encrypted connections with certificates issued by trusted public certificate authorities. Normally, no additional certificate installation is required for these services.

The internal network also operates its own public key infrastructure (PKI) and certificate authority for internal systems.

Domain-joined computers normally receive the required internal certificates automatically. Other devices may need to install the internal root CA certificate before connecting to services that use internally issued certificates.

The CA certificate is available from:
