Remote Sessions and Desktop
The Remote Desktop Services provide authorized users with access to Windows applications and desktops within the hochstaffl.local domain.
Multiple Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) servers are used to provide published applications and, where configured, complete remote desktops over the Internet.

Overview
Applications run on the remote servers while their windows are displayed on the user's local computer. This allows applications and internal resources to be used remotely without installing the applications locally.
Depending on the user's permissions, Remote Desktop Services provide:
- Published RemoteApp applications
- Full remote desktop sessions
- Access to assigned computers within the internal network
A reliable Internet connection is recommended. High latency or limited bandwidth can affect the responsiveness of remote sessions.
Remote Desktop Services use the user's domain account.
The username can normally be entered as:
hochstaffl\username
Where supported, the user's hochstaffl.eu account name can also be used.
New accounts or access permissions can be requested from:
administrator@hochstaffl.eu
RemoteApps
RemoteApps are Windows applications that run on the RDSH servers but appear alongside locally installed applications on the user's computer.
Available applications depend on the permissions assigned to the user.
Web Access
The Remote Desktop Web Access portal is available at:
To connect:
- Open the Remote Desktop Web Access page in a web browser.
- Log in with your domain credentials.
- Select the required application or desktop.
- Open the Remote Desktop connection when prompted.
- Confirm your credentials again if requested.
Applications should be closed normally when the remote session is no longer required.
RemoteApp and Desktop Connections
Windows users can also add the RemoteApp feed directly to Windows instead of opening the web portal for every connection.
The feed address is:
https://remote.hochstaffl.eu/RDWeb/Feed/webfeed.aspx
After configuration, the published RemoteApps appear in Windows and can be started like locally installed applications.
The exact configuration procedure depends on the Windows version in use.
Remote Desktop
Where permitted, users can access a complete Windows desktop instead of an individual RemoteApp.
The desktop is hosted within the network and provides access to the applications and resources assigned to the user.
Full desktop sessions can be started through the Remote Desktop Web Access portal or a compatible Remote Desktop client.
Access to Internal Computers
Where configured, Remote Desktop Services can also provide remote access to an assigned computer within the internal network.
The Remote Desktop infrastructure acts as the connection gateway, allowing the user to work with the remote computer from outside the local network.
Certificates
Connections to the public Remote Desktop services use encrypted connections.
Domain-joined computers normally receive any required internal certificates automatically. If an internal service requires the hochstaffl.eu internal certificate authority, see the certificate information on the Main Page.
